BR ORCHARDS

Sustainable Orchard Project integrated into
The Mare Pasture Community

THE MARE PASTURE @ RED WING RANCH DEVELOPMENT ENCOMPASSES SEVERAL DIVERSE PLANNING MODULES, EACH GENERATING INCOME AND COMBINING INTO A WHOLE COMMUNITY CREATING A INTER-RELATED CONTEMPORARY AGRARIAN LIFESTYLE.

BR ORCHARDS

BR Orchards is an integral part of Mare Pasture’s self-sufficient and sustainable planning.

The high desert plateaus of southern Arizona enjoy plenty of summer rains, and have supported dry-farmed (naturally irrigated) orchards for centuries. In addition to formal, density-planted orchards, Mare Pasture will also feature fruit and nut trees throughout its communities as edible landscaping.

Residents will be able to walk outside their homes and share the bounty of community trees. Small agricultural orchards will provide fruit for sale in local markets and in the BR Farmstand.

An amazing array of fruit and nuts can be grown in southern Arizona due to its long summer days, mild spring and fall temperatures, and plentiful rains. Citrus trees are popular and produce abundantly—varieties include oranges, mandarin oranges, blood oranges, limes, and grapefruit.

Other fruits and nuts that grow well here include apples, apricots, peaches, figs, pears, Asian pears, persimmons, plums, quince, almonds, pistachios, and pecans. BR Orchards will also be responsible for beekeeping and onsite honey production.

Please return often to view the progress and learn more about the orchards being planned at The Mare Pasture.

Photographs on this page were not taken of any orchard or product grown on The Mare Pasture. The open rangeland photographs were taken at The Mare Pasture property to provide a sense of the area.
