BR VINEYARDS IS A SUSTAINABLE VITICULTURE PROJECT DESIGNED TO BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE MARE PASTURE @ RED WING RANCH, A PLANNED AGRARIAN AND RESORT DEVELOPMENT OF OVER 1,000 ACRES BASED ON SMALL-SCALE, SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND AGRITOURISM.

Southern Arizona’s wine regions are attracting star-power winemakers, and Arizona wines have been praised by wine critic Robert Parker, the Wine Spectator, and the Wine Enthusiast. Arizona wines have also been served at the White House and at prestigious James Beard House dinners. The region is beginning to attract major names in the wine industry as investors and landowners.
The Mare Pasture community will feature high-density residential clusters integrated into irrigated pastures, orchards, gardens and open rangeland. Facilities will also include a liberal arts college, an equestrian center, riding / biking / walking trails, a vineyard, winery, and hydroponic farming. Agritourism at The Mare Pasture will foster varied business and recreational opportunities, from private "locally grown" dining experiences to regional winery events.
The vineyard plantings will be an integral part of The Mare Pasture development and the main source of fruit for a profitable winery and educational guest center. Under the guidance of a professional viticulture team, the vineyards will be planted to varieties chosen for their marketability and site-specific traits.
BR Vineyards will be conducted as an independent, self-sustaining business entity within The Mare Pasture complex of agricultural and agritourism activities. Grapes will be available for sale, but will primarily be used in the BR Vineyards wine brand.
BR Vineyards will consist of two vineyard locations, one 40 acre vineyard and one 9 acre vineyard. Both vineyard locations were carefully chosen for their soils and microclimates, and viticulture will focus on Spanish and Italian heritage grape varieties. The BR brand was originally registered by Arizona pioneer Brannick Riggs and is now owned by his great-grandson, architect John Riggs.
The Mare Pasture @ Red Wing Ranch and BR Vineyards are located on original Riggs rangeland in the foothills of the Dos Cabezas Mountains, and within 15 miles of the original Riggs Settlement and the Chiricahua Mountains. The vineyard name and planned winery label will celebrate the region's long agricultural history and the Riggs Family heritage.
